Welcome to the USS Kumari NCC 61172

Task Force 93 Simulation of The Month

Jun 2017, Oct 2017 and Feb 2018

The Milky Way Galaxy is an ever changing place. In the last twenty years alone, the United Federation of Planets has had to contend with an invasion from the Borg, wars with the Cardassian Union, Klingon Empire and the Dominion. And more recently, the loss of Romulus and Remus, has changed the political landscape throughout the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. While the Federation has always done its best to keep the peace, they are struggling in doing so with the Romulan Star Empire being so vulnerable right now. It doesn't help that the Klingons are more than eager to push the boundaries of their friendship with Starfleet in order to try and expand their territory.

In such dire times, it falls upon each and every member of Starfleet to help preserve the fragile peace. Not all of its forces lay out in the open though. There are always matters that require a more delicate touch. One of finesse. Since the end of the Dominion War, Starfleet Intelligence has been pouring many of its resources into rebuilding and recruitment. With both the Tal Shiar and the Obsidian Order just shades of their former selves, it became imperative for the intelligence branch of Starfleet to stand out and be the elite information gatherers that the quadrant needed.

As one might expect with the work that needed to be done under this new mandate, Starfleet Intelligence put more operatives and starships into service. One such vessel was the retrofitted Saber-class starship, U.S.S. Kumari. Although to some the Kumari might be considered a 'small ship', its upgraded rapid fire phaser cannons, quantum torpedo launchers and ablative hull armour demonstrate that it shouldn't be overlooked and that it can be a force to be reckoned with. Under the command of Commander Jack Colburn, the Kumari and its crew, operate in the shadows, doing what needs to be done for the safety and security of every man, woman and child.

Posted on Mon Jun 4th, 2018 @ 12:18am by Captain Jack Colburn in General News

Hey everyone, apologies for my absence at the end of last month. My Crohns is winning the current battle but I will win the war (hopefully)! I’m starting to some new treatment in the near future which hopefully get me back on the right track.

Crew

We lost Karen this month, due to lack of time. I, especially, am sad to see her go as she was one of the founding members of the Kumari.

We wish her luck and would always welcome her back if time allowed her to come back.

With Karen leaving, this left our Chief Medical Officer position vacant. So I promoted Rach, who plays Lieutenant JG Tia Caelan, to the CMO position. We’d like to wish Rach luck in her new role aboard Kumari.

If anyone has any problems with posting/answering TAGs, please talk to the Command Team.

JP is on LOA.

Sim

It’s been a slower month but I know you guys are all busy with your own life’s. I want everyone to make a special effort to push Mission 2 forward, get to TAGs when you can.

Mission Recap
Lieutenant Commander T’Rhe and the rest of the away team have arrived at Kumen'Dor Station where Rukol and the Vulpecula are. They are just gaining entry to the Vulpecula.

Captain Colburn and his team have returned to the Kumari after a little tussle with Orion raiders. Thankfully, the Kumari was able to provide support and eventually destroyed the raiders. Captain Colburn and his daughter Joanna are currently in sickbay recovering from their injuries from the Orion attack.

Lieutenant C’Morr and the rest of Kumari’s crew have rescued a lone pilot of the NX-Epsilon which appeared from a temporal anomaly. The pilot is currently in sickbay undergoing tests.

Most of you by now know about the recent changes to do with personal information. Over the coming weeks the Kumari site will become fully compliant. There is a Nova update which helps the system become compliant to the new laws. I will also be adding new rules to the site as part of this change.

I just wanted to let you know that all personal information is safe with me and the Kumari Command Team. It will NOT be passed on to a third party or sold.

It is with great sadness that I must inform you that Karen has decided to step away from her position on Kumari due to personal time constraints. Karen is one of the original crew who helped me get Kumari off the ground. I will be forever grateful for her contribution to the sim.

I’d like to wish her well. The door will never close for her character Doctor MacLeod, if and when she feels she has the time, we will welcome her back.

Happy May everyone! Busy month in RL as it’s my Daughter and Wife’s birthday this month!

Crew

I’ve unfortunately removed Katy from the Kumari for lack of activity and communication.

We wish her well in her other simming endeavours.

If anyone has any problems with posting/answering TAGs, please talk to the Command Team, we don’t bite...much :)

JP is on LOA & Karen are on ELOA.

Sim

We’ve had another good month, really pleased with our progress. Keep answering TAG’s when you can and keep the posts coming :)

Most, of not all, of the crew have been involved in the recent chats and votes about changing ship class on Discord. I know there has been a little bit of resistance to this but overall most have approved of the change. I thought I’d take the opportunity to explain the thoughts behind this.

The Saber Class is a lovely unique class. Which is something I wanted when I decided to create the sim. A sim which I have enjoyed watching grow and become a successful sim.

But recently, I’ve seen that the Saber’s resources are quite limited which limits us as a sim. I’ve recently become Task Force 93’s Commander, Federation Forces (COMFEDFOR) for the Klingon Theater (KLN/CC). This means the Klingon Civil War Arc has fallen to me to continue, an exciting prospect for us as a sim. I promised it won’t be all Klingons though. I have plenty of ideas but ones that required a bigger ship.

We did two votes on Discord, one was whether or not to change the class of ship. The results were 7 Yes, 2 indifferent and 1 No. The second was which class of ship. 3 choices were given, Luna Class, Ares Class and Nova Class. Luna won hands down. We didn’t consider the “Big” Galaxy, Sovereign or Nebula classes as we still wanted a smallish ship. We also wanted to stay away from the well used classes of Intrepid and Akira. We still want to be unique so our Luna will be different to others. We are working on things and will keep you guys posted.
