Welcome to the USS Kumari NCC 61172

The Milky Way Galaxy is an ever changing place. In the last twenty years alone, the United Federation of Planets has had to contend with an invasion from the Borg, wars with the Cardassian Union, Klingon Empire and the Dominion. And more recently, the loss of Romulus and Remus, has changed the political landscape throughout the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. While the Federation has always done its best to keep the peace, they are struggling in doing so with the Romulan Star Empire being so vulnerable right now. It doesn't help that the Klingons are more than eager to push the boundaries of their friendship with Starfleet in order to try and expand their territory.

In such dire times, it falls upon each and every member of Starfleet to help preserve the fragile peace. Not all of its forces lay out in the open though. There are always matters that require a more delicate touch. One of finesse. Since the end of the Dominion War, Starfleet Intelligence has been pouring many of its resources into rebuilding and recruitment. With both the Tal Shiar and the Obsidian Order just shades of their former selves, it became imperative for the intelligence branch of Starfleet to stand out and be the elite information gatherers that the quadrant needed.

As one might expect with the work that needed to be done under this new mandate, Starfleet Intelligence put more operatives and starships into service. One such vessel was the retrofitted Saber-class starship, U.S.S. Kumari. Although to some the Kumari might be considered a 'small ship', its upgraded rapid fire phaser cannons, quantum torpedo launchers and ablative hull armour demonstrate that it shouldn't be overlooked and that it can be a force to be reckoned with. Under the command of Commander Jack Colburn, the Kumari and its crew, operate in the shadows, doing what needs to be done for the safety and security of every man, woman and child.

Hello crew of the USS Kumari,

Firstly, Happy new year! Hope you all have enjoyed the holiday period!

Secondly, Katy has stepped down as First Officer due to real life commitments. She will be staying with us and continuing to write everyone’s favourite Romulan/Vulcan Mirok. Commander Hendricks will be moving on in story, a post will follow to experience pain this.

Greg, who plays Lieutenant Commander T’Rhe will be stepping up as First Officer. This leaves the Second Officer position available, if anyone is interested in the position please contact myself or Greg.

Lastly, I will be making some small changes to the sim. Posting rules will be changing, Command Team (CO, XO & 2XO) will be required to post a minimum of 3 times a week, Department Heads twice a week and Junior Officers once a week. Most of you stick to this so it’s not a major change. If anyone has any problems please talk to us, communication is key :)

I’m also considering doing a monthly update, to keep everyone in the know with what’s going on. Would everyone find this beneficial? Please let me know!

I’ll be starting up JP’s over the next day or so to kick off mission 2.

Steve
